WordPress sites have duplicate pages (with and without /). How should SEO be handled?

Recently, while setting up a site using WordPress + WooCommerce, I discovered that the same page can simultaneously contain

Google Search Console has already flagged duplicate pages, and indexing and ranking seem a bit chaotic.

Currently, Rank Math is set to default settings without any additional changes to the canonical URL.

I'd like to ask everyone:

  1. For URLs with and without the /, what is the standard practice in WordPress?

  2. Is it better to use a 301 redirect, or is a canonical tag sufficient?

  3. In WordPress/WooCommerce, what's the most reliable way to handle recommendations?

Hope this doesn't affect existing indexing and avoids SEO pitfalls. Thanks everyone 🙏
