Recently, while setting up a site using WordPress + WooCommerce, I discovered that the same page can simultaneously contain
-
https://example.com/product-name -
https://example.com/product-name/
Google Search Console has already flagged duplicate pages, and indexing and ranking seem a bit chaotic.
Currently, Rank Math is set to default settings without any additional changes to the canonical URL.
I'd like to ask everyone:
-
For URLs with and without the /, what is the standard practice in WordPress?
-
Is it better to use a 301 redirect, or is a canonical tag sufficient?
-
In WordPress/WooCommerce, what's the most reliable way to handle recommendations?
Hope this doesn't affect existing indexing and avoids SEO pitfalls. Thanks everyone 🙏
